Jumping Into the Uncomfortable

This past week was my first week with the Center for Global Action in Gainesville, GA. It was a time of rest, retreat, processing, and readying ourselves for the upcoming semester. Through my time of processing, I thought back on my World Race journey and realized my growth in doing the things that scare me. I’m not perfect at it, but I’ve grown and I’ve seen so much fruit because of it. I am now a HUGE supporter of doing the things that make you afraid, so they no longer have that power over you, especially having those hard conversations or jumping off that dock into the water or sharing your story to a group of new friends.

This week, I committed to take it a step further…

I am going to be walking in doing the things that make me uncomfortable. I can already name a few things that I will be walking in JUST BECAUSE they make me squirm. I expect so much fruit from doing these difficult, uncomfortable things to the point where, again, my comfort zone will increase and these things will no longer have power over me. It could be asking that random person to teach me how to play the drums, or asking one of my housemates to have coffee with me.

So, I invite you to join with me! Let’s not let fear or uncomfortable things keep us from stepping out in faith for the Kingdom of God.
