People keep asking me what I learned this semester at CGA. Well you’ve come to the right place. Here are some lessons…
Since 7th grade, I have been passionate about missions. At that point in my life, I didn’t have much knowledge of long-term missions, so my focus and heart was on the short-term mission trips I had the privilege of participating in.
On the World Race, God started teaching me about the 10/40 Window. In Botswana, my team was blessed to go through a missions training called Kairos. It started to put words to thoughts and feelings I was already having. It gave me information I had never even considered. Ultimately, it lit a spark in me for serving people in unreached parts of the world. Fast forward to CGA and I have been blessed to work with a team that is passionate about the 10/40 window, the area of the world that is home to the majority of the unreached people groups. I am around this constantly and sparks are igniting. I am learning what it looks like to set up missions in new countries. I am learning what it looks like to go into a country with no plan and experience the Lord move in incredible ways and provide all you need.
At CGA, I am learning how to set up new programs. I am learning how to design mission trips. I am learning what all it takes to get a team into the 10/40 Window to do ministry. I am learning spiritual and emotional health that not only benefits me, but can also benefit all those around me that I have the opportunity to teach.
At CGA, I am learning more about who God intricately wired me to be. My story is a HUGE part of who I am, but it doesn’t define me. I am intricately complex and my Creator is the only one who fully knows who I am. But He’s revealed a lot to me through these months seeking after Him.
At CGA, I am learning what it feels like to no longer isolate myself when things get difficult. I am much more likely to avoid people than be drawn to them. God has wired me to be energized and more alive with people, but I still isolate and avoid. I have learned the beauty of letting others into my life.
At CGA, because I have learned some key things about my wiring and purpose, I am pursuing what that looks like in the context of “next steps.” I am in the perfect place to continue learning the unique and specific ministry calling I am designed for. For these reasons, I have decided to stay for a second semester in CGA. After I visit St. Louis in May, I will be in CGA’s Leadership Track and will be developing my unique leadership skills through hands-on learning and continued apprenticeship. I will continue working in the World Race Expedition & Kingdom Journeys Pioneers Departments and work to prepare the way for others to fulfill their Kingdom dreams by working behind the scenes to make that happen. I will continue preparing myself for ministry and learning more about what that looks lie for me in the future.
