If you haven’t heard of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, you may be living under a rock. And that’s coming from someone who spent 11 months out of the States and uninvolved in American media/news. I’m joking! If you don’t know who they are, that’s alright. Just 2 young Hollywood starlets (I think this is my first time saying “starlets”) who fell in love but later called it quits.
[Yeah, I cried during their movie, The Last Song.]
But this isn’t a blog about them.
I was buying some Peanut Butter M&Ms at the ATL airport for my trek back to STL after an incredible week at Project Searchlight, and while in line, I saw a magazine cover with a shot of the two of them. The heading was: “Crazy Love: Even at Miley’s wildest moments, Liam never gave up on her…
How beautiful, right? Even at her “worst” or “wildest,” her Love waited it out for her. He didn’t know how long it would take. He didn’t know the condition she’d be in at the end. But he waited and didn’t give up.
I want a love like that. I think we ALL want a love like that.
*drum roll please*
I have some incredible news! I FOUND that!!
*cue Hallelujah Chorus*
I actually have even better news: I have found a LOVE like this that everyone can be part of. There is Someone out there that does love, is loving, and will love each of us WITH THAT LOVE.
His name is Jesus!
And it’s all FOR REAL. He saw each of us at our very worst, and still picked us. For us, He chose to live a perfect 33 years of life on this Earth, die the worst possible death to pay our punishment for sin, and rose again to prove Himself a conqueror over it all.
He. Did. This. For. Us.
This should WRECK US! We deserve the worst possible death for the sins we commit against our Creator. This should RUIN US for the things of this world. Why buy (or even read) a magazine speaking about love when you can LIVE IT with Jesus!
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2: 9-11)
How beautiful, right? The One that made everything we see is the same One that has waited it out for us to come back to Him.
He’s never given up. And He never will.
So now the ball is in your court. What are you going to do? Are you going to accept that love in the very deepest part of your being? I pray with every part of me that you do.
For me: I’ve decided that I #cantstopwontstop
